| Beginner Training Days |
|
These events are aimed at those who are undergoing or have recently completed the NRA Probationary Members Course. The training days are held on the range and run to an informal agenda. The objective is to get you into a position where you feel comfortable about joining in the LMRA team matches. It is in team matches that you will start to progress further, through contact with a mix of more experienced shooters. Initially we will cover the importance of the routine of shooting. This is getting yourself down onto the firing point and going through the steps you need to drill into your mind for each shot that you fire. A sample routine will be demonstrated from which you can build your own routine. With team shooting you do not need to worry about reading the wind, you just need to lie there and shoot. But you do need to be able get yourself onto the firing point and to find a comfortable position as quickly as possible. Then you need to shoot each shot exactly the same. You also need to develop a good rhythm for fast, but secure, shooting. This greatly assists the wind coach in getting your shots in the middle of the V bull every time. Then we move on to get you shooting; this is your chance to start building your own shooting routine. We also spend time reviewing your shooting position. These days will be held out on the ranges starting at 9:00 am and finishing around 4:30 pm. LMRA club rifles and other equipment are available and the cost is around £20.
